Oil painting on canvas titled 'Study for a Portrait of Peter Lacy' is seen as one of the important works of Bacon and would become one of the highlights in the sale at Sotheby's contemporary art evening on May 14, 2013 ..
The painting in blue, green and black, Lacy appeared sitting on the fence while holding a glass of wine. The work was painted a few months after the death of Peter Lacy due to alcohol.
"If we look at the entire works of Bacon, and the whole is not more than 600 paintings, mostly dedicated to people belonging to friends and relatives," said Barker.
The painting was sold from a private collection and has 40 years are not displayed to the public. The work will be exhibited in London from April 12 to 16 and in New York began May 3.
